What does NFL Week 2 look like for fantasy?

Well, that was fun... shall we do it again with less injuries? Please?

Wow, what a week.

I made the weirdest waiver transaction Sunday morning - I dropped WR Puka Nacua for RB Gus Edwards. On one hand, I really want Nacua back (I lost the bid on him in waivers). On the other hand, Gus Edwards was not a bad pickup AT ALL.

Just wanted to share. Did you make any pre-Sunday transactions you’re happy about? Let me know, I love hearing them.

Let’s talk some fantasy football!

📰 What the heck happened this week?

  • JK Dobbins tears his achilles

    • Dobbins cannot catch a break, now with his second season-ending injury in four seasons.

  • Aaron Rodgers tears achilles on his first drive as a Jet

    • Brutal. No other way to describe it.

👀 Week One Takeaways

💨 Tyreek Hill may actually go for 2,000 receiving yards
215 receiving yards on 15 targets. I may be insane to expect this output every week, but it looked so effortless from Hill and Tua Tagovailoa last week. Looking forward to see this happen every week.

🐆 Calvin Ridley is potentially a top-5 WR in Jacksonville
With an incredible outlet in Week 1, my high bar for Ridley was met. He finished the week as the WR6 with 11 targets, 101 yards and a TD and that volume is hard to ignore in a quality offense.

🌻 Zay Flowers is a must start moving forward
After a 10-target outing this week, I’m sold. Even with Mark Andrews back in the lineup, I don’t think Flowers will have any volume decrease. I’ll be comfortably slotting him in my starting lineup and not think about it.

🦅 Tyler Allgeier may continue to be more involved than expected
Consider the Atlanta Falcons as a run-only team that will throw the ball as often as they kick it. That’s at least how I see it going this season. Allgeier may be the RB2 (some would argue RB1) in this offense but on this team that’s a productive spot to be in.

📊 Week Two Rankings Highlights

Every week here I’ll highlight a few players I may be ranking higher than other experts, or some players I’m just excited to see play this upcoming week.

I’d also like to point out, I was the most accurate expert on FantasyPros last week. You’re in good hands, trust me.

Feel free to check out my full weekly rankings at the link below!

😍 Puka Nacua - WR32
I half expect Nacua to prove me wrong and have another big week, but I’m also currently higher on him this week than consensus. The targets don’t lie but the tough matchup against the 49ers worries me. All eyes on the rookie this week with all the FAAB spent on him but I believe he’s worth it.

🦁 Lions RBs (Montgomery - RB12, Gibbs - RB21)
I give it another two weeks and these rankings will be swapped. I expect Gibbs to still be limited on touches and Montgomery to still run into his lineman. Either way, both are starts this week against the Seahawks with a very real possibility they both score.

💥 Week Two Booms and Busts 👎

Start your studs.

That being said, let’s highlight some players I’m expecting some big weeks from and a few I’m pretty low on. This isn’t necessarily a start/sit column, but more so some players I expect a bigger week from and some players I’m not excited about.

💥 WR Zay Jones, Jaguars (vs. Chiefs)
Am I crazy to think Zay Jones is the WR2 in Jacksonville? Maybe not too crazy, but I certainly think he and Christian Kirk swap places each week. This week, however, I think Jones keeps the title as Jacksonville’s WR2 and puts up some solid points in a game which Vegas has with highest point total.

👎 WR DJ Moore, Bears (vs. Buccaneers)
I’m concerned for this passing attack, concerned enough that I’m staying away for another week or two until things (hopefully) click. Just 2 targets last week isn’t a fun stat line to read and I expect a similar outcome this week.

💥 RB James Conner, Cardinals (vs. Giants)
Overall, a solid outing for Conner in the game against the Commanders last week. With 19 total touches, 5 of them being receptions, he fared well against a solid defense and now faces a potentially weaker one. The Giants gave up THREE rushing touchdowns to the Cowboys, so there’s certainly some rush defense deficiencies that exist there.

👎 RB Breece Hall, Jets (vs. Cowboys)
The Jets play the… uh oh. They play the Dallas Cowboys - a team that wouldn’t allow the Giants to get a point on the board last week. I’m not sure this is a defense that Zach Wilson can compete against and I sure as heck don’t expect the Jets to be in a position to be running often in this one.

Thank you for tuning in, let’s get a W this week 🫡
